GEW is an acronym for Global Entrepreneurship Week and it is celebrated annually in November. Quoting Wikipedia, Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) is an international initiative that introduces entrepreneurship to young people in six continents. GEW emerged in 2008 as a result of Enterprise Week UK and Entrepreneurship Week USA 2007. Since its creation, more than 10 million people from roughly 170 countries have participated in entrepreneurship-related events, activities and competitions during GEW.

This annual event occurs over the span of one week and includes the participation of millions of entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, researchers, educators, entrepreneurship support organizations and interested individuals. Currently, 165 countries celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week running national campaigns that generate approximately 35,000 events, activities and competitions.

One of the major organizers of events to commemorate the Global Entrepreneurship Week is GEN Global (Global Entrepreneurship Network) and its local subsidiary in Nigeria, GEN Nigeria.

GEN Nigeria is a year-round platform of programs and initiatives created to support creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship in the ecosystem in Nigeria and it has lined up activities to celebrate the year 2019 edition of the Global Entrepreneurship Week from Saturday 16th to Wednesday 20th November. During which, as entrepreneurs, you can win seed grants for your businesses or business ideas.

Events for GEW 2019

GEW Walk for Entrepreneurship
The GEW Walk for Entrepreneurship jump-starts the activities for the week and aims at physically raising awareness and promoting entrepreneurship, creativity, innovation and job creation. The walk will take place simultaneously in Lagos, Ibadan, Enugu, Port Harcourt, Minna, Sokoto, Osogbo,Kaduna, Nsukka and Abuja, Nigeria

Youth Entrepreneural Dialogue

Youth Entrepreneurship Dialogue
Youth Entrepreneurship Dialogue (YED) is an annual forum that brings together 1000 young people during the GEW and exposes them to the different aspects of entrepreneurship. The event records pitch sessions where three winners will be given seed money.

Women Enterprise day

Women Enterprise Day
WED is a Global Entrepreneurship Week event. The Conference which usually has over 500 women participating in it annually is a full-day business conference that brings together female entrepreneurs, business experts, media, investors, and community and government leaders to support and celebrate women in business.
